Girlcation 2010

Ok so I've been a little busy recovering and catching up on life after my week long "Girlcation" to Cabo.
(On the beach in Cabo)

So how was it you ask? Amazing! However it was not quite the relaxing, peaceful trip that I was expecting. It was more like spending 7 nights in Vegas...yes it was that crazy! Our days were filled with beach lounging and cocktails while are nights were filled with dancing and more cocktails. And let me just say, if there was a pole in Cabo we found it...and may or may not have danced on it. We knew it was going to be a good trip when our cabi offered to stop at the liquor store for some roadies on the trip from the airport to our resort. We happily took him up on the offer. :)

The weather was a perfect 85 and sunny every day but one when it was still warm but a little cloudy...in other words it was the perfect laying out weather and I came back with a pretty good tan.
(Going out on night 2 for Jills B'day)

We met some amazing people while we were there and are still keeping in touch with most of them. We might have been in Cabo for 2 hours when we met a group of guys from Sacramento who we ended up spending a lot of time with. I believe we met them over shots at the Mango Deck and we all became instant friends! They are even talking about making a trip to Denver to hang with us this summer.
(At dinner for the Sac boys last night)

After the Sacramento boys left and it was just back to us 4 girls we decided it would be a good time for dancing so we went to El Squid Roe where we somehow ended up in dance cage. Although Squid Roe is a good time we noticed that most of the crowd was a younger crowd like in the 18-20 year old range. We were joined in the "cage" by some Princeton boys we proceeded to refer to us as "the cougars" so we decided it was time to split and find an older crowd. And that is when we met the doctors.

The doctors were from Detroit and just so happened to have the penthouse suite at the same resort we were staying at which led to trouble...in a good way. And let me say those doctors knew how to have a good time. They were on the same time share schedule as we were so ended up spending the rest of the trip all hanging out and going to dinner and what not. Needless to say it ended up being a good time had by all :)

(Last night in Cabo)

So now that I'm finally recovered (it took a while) and back into the swing the of things its time put the hammer down on this thesis. I'm very close to finalizing my topic and thesis statement and will share it with you all when it is finalized.

Next week I will be heading to the other side of the Rockies to visit family and go to my cousin/P.I.C.'s (Parter In Crime) baby shower. Its hard to believe that in roughly a month she will a mommy. But I know she will be great! And also next week the night before I fly out I will be attending the Wednesday night performance of Taylor Swift here in Denver! Could things be any better right now? I don't think so..

My March Madness

This has and is going to continue to be a big month for me. March is turning out to be my craziest month of 2010...but I'm loving it!

Lets get started with catching you all up on the
fabulous life of me:

First I kicked off the month with an exciting phone about a possible job prospect. I have sent them everything they have asked for and now I am just playing the waiting game. For those of you that I have talked to about this know just how huge of an opportunity this could be. Even if I don't get the job I am honored that they even took the time to talk to me about the possibility.

This week I completed my final class ever of my graduate student career and I am now the holder of my Masters Degree ABT (All But Thesis). Okay so its not a real degree but it is a huge accomplishment and it means I am that much closer to ending my long running career as a professional student. So I have a week break and then its time to put the hammer down and crank out this thesis.

Now anyone who has been around me for any period of time knows that I am a huge sports fanatic and a big supporter of my Alma mater K-State...I will always bleed purple through thick and thin! So I am slightly disappointed that I am only going to be able to watch one of K-States games in the Big 12 Tournament due to the "Girl-cation" I am leaving for in the morning. I'm hoping to come back to K-State showing those Jayhawks whose boss and having a Big 12 Championship to celebrate! Since I am also going to missing the first couple of days of the NCAA Tournament as well I'm hoping I will be back in time to watch the Cats make it to one of the final games of the tournament...GO CATS!

(Even Reagan gets in the K-State spirit!)

And finally the most anticipated part of my month. I am leaving for Cabo San Lucas in the morning for a week of bliss with three amazing ladies! I have been feeling a bit burned out lately with this whole school shenanigans so this will be the perfect chance for me to relax and get refreshed before I tackle my last task as a student. It will be nice to have a week of no stress or worries ... except of course where my next cocktail is coming from and when to turn over in order to get an even tan :) . However, I am already starting to feel a little bit of separation anxiety from my dog Reagan, but I'm sure that Ben will take good care of my little girl!

Its crazy how much things have changed compared to this time last year. Even though I many more things to worry about and be stressed about I'm much more comfortable about things and just plain happier...its an amazing feeling!

I can't wait (ok maybe I can) to get back and share all of my pictures and stories with you all!

Let the Countdown Begin

At this time next month I will be laying on a sunny beach and enjoying tasty cocktail with some of my favorite girls. This trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is one that us girls have been planning since last fall and it can't happen soon enough! Since I ran into some problems with starting on my capstone/thesis, this will be the perfect break so when I get back I will be ready to buckle down knock out this final project of my long-running career as a student.

Just a couple of pictures of the place that we will be staying!

Since I have been busy with school and working my tail off I really haven't had a lot of time for fun lately. But I did go out on a date recently with a Denver Barbarians Rugby player...we'll just call him "Rugby Boy." Although we had a fun night of sushi and bowling I'm still contemplating whether he is second date worthy. I will make sure and keep you all in the know about how things work out!

Letting Myself Go

And by that I don't mean I'm going to start not taking care of myself...it means just the opposite!

2010 has started off with a bang and has already been somewhat of a crazy roller coaster ride with some unexpected and crazy events taking place. So I've decided its time for some fresh starts and let myself go by doing everything I have wanted to do but not been able to do. It took just one scary night to realize its time to get rid of the bat-shit crazies and be myself again...no holding back!

So I'm going to be letting myself go by spending a week long girls trip in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in March...and I can't wait! I'm kicking my butt into gear to lose those last pesky 10 pounds that are lingering and lastly I'm spending more time with with friends and spend less time worrying about the little things. There is no point in sweating the small stuff, its just going to hold me back. These are just a few of the things that I am looking forward to with many more ideas and adventures to come! And don't worry all, pictures will follow to document everything!

National Western Stock Show

Its been awhile since my first post so I figured it was time to catch everyone up on what has been going on these past couple of weeks. It only takes two words to describe why I haven't had the time to update this blog: Stock Show.

For those of you who don't know the National Western Stock Show takes place here in Denver and runs for most of the month of January. I have been attending the NWSS on and off for the past 10 years and this year not only did I have show cattle on the hill, but I also had the honor of working for the photography company Show Champions doing marketing/sales and assisting photographers throughout the different shows.

This years stock show is one that is going down in the history books for me. In the open Shorthorn show I showed the Reserve National Champion Bull. Not only was this our first national champion that we have shown, what made it more exciting was that the bull, "LBB Sonny California 07 ET," was raised by us! I can't even begin to describe how excited we all were after getting the champion slap and hand shake from the judge. Afterwards we celebrated with steaks and good wine at the Denver Chophouse with our good friends the Williams and Neumayrs.

Now that stock is over it has left with a little reminder of the hard work of the past tw
o weeks...the dreaded crud.
Life is slowly getting back to normal and I will ma
ke sure and keep you all up to date with the happenings that are taking place.

Kick-off

Starting a blog is something that I have always wanted to do, but I just have never gotten one started. So tonight while I am watching the national champion football game and putting off doing my homework I figured I might as well get one started. Since I live so far away from my family I figured this would be a good way for everyone to stay caught up with me and all my fabulousness.

This week I started my last class ever of my student career! Sounds awesome doesn't it? Well not so much. Although its my last class the hardest part is left to come: The dreaded thesis. I have been really struggling with my topic but I am leaning towards the topic of how using Internet marketing through social networks it can benefit small businesses...any thoughts? All comments, criticisms, and suggestions accepted!

Not only has my week involved the start of classes it has also brought arctic temperatures that have me begging to get back the warmer climates of home in California. Everyone at home may be dealing with fog but I will take it over the snow, wind, ice, and single digits! Since I just got back to this arctic tundra after spending two amazing weeks at home it has me begging to go back! You can take the girl out of California, but you can't take California out of the girl...and I'm not made for these cold temperatures! I'm just hoping that it warms up before next weekend when I will be spending all my time at the National Western Stock Show. I don't think I own enough layers to keep me warm if the temperatures stay this way through next week...a shopping trip may be required if thats the case.

This is all I have for now...so till next time!
